TABIO's COTTON
Tabio makes effective use of fallow land in Koryo Town, Nara Prefecture, Japan and has been growing sea-island cotton with an extra-long staple fiber from seeds. It is grown without the use of agricultural chemicals and is harvested entirely by hand resulting in high-quality thread without damaging the fibers. The organic cotton has the simple and gentle texture that the earth has nurtured.
We started Tabio Original Cotton Cultivation Project in 2009 in Koryo Town, Nara Prefecture, which is NO.1 in the production of socks in Japan. After repeatedly researching and testing cotton from all over the world, we began cultivating the current "TABIO's COTTON" in 2015.
With the cooperation of farmers and an industry-academia collaboration project with Kindai University, we realized that growing cotton without any pesticides or chemical fertilizers.
After cotton flowers bloom, they bear fruit, and when they pop, cotton is produced. Organic farming is environmentally friendly, and we wait until the stems and leaves have withered before we begin harvesting. To avoid damaging cotton ball fibers naturally grown, people hand-pick each of them.
In order to take advantage of the texture of TABIO'S COTTON, which has an extra-long fiber length, it is carefully made into yarn at a Japanese spinning factory that can pay close attention to details.
