Breathable and Sustainable
Durable, Light, Breathable and Sustainable
Washi, traditional Japanese paper, has been used in Japanese houses as a functional material for the breathability; highly moisture absorption and desorption, maintaining a comfortable living space. In 2014, washi was registered as Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.
Washi is a very eco-friendly material also. It's lighter than linen but very durable. It's made from Manila Hemp which is the strongest natural fiber used for a rope for mooring vessels also. Manila Hemp is sustainable as it grows very fast and absorbs a lot of CO2 during its growth process.
Now, Washi will keep your foot comfortable. They are superb socks with Japanese traditional culture and wisdom and Tabio's craftsmanship.
How Washi Socks are made?
Paper → Twisted Yarn → Socks
Washi is handmade. It is made from the strongest natural fiber, Manila Hemp. In order to make Washi yarn in high quality, it is necessary to cut Washi into fine (1 mm ≒ 0.04 inch) and even width. This requires a highly skilled craftsmanship.
Washi paper cut into fine and even width is then twisted to make Washi Yarn. Washi twisted yarn is dyed and knitted into Washi socks.
Washi socks are excellent in its breathability.
